Congratulations!  You made it to 2016. Like us, you’re probably grateful in some ways to be stepping into a New Year with all of its possibilities.  And we hope, like us, that you can look back and be thankful, even amazed, at some of your experiences.

Whether you weathered storms, overcame obstacles, climbed to great heights, suffered a set back or two, or just enjoyed the simple things, as you wave good bye to 2015 we hope that you’re stronger and better because of it.

7 Snapshots of Unveil’s Year

We lived a remarkable year as a studio and wanted to share with you a quick list of our highlights:

Powerful Projects

Powerful Projects by Unveil Studios

We’re grateful to connect the stories we tell with important humanitarian work.  In 2015 we had the privilege to partner with four ongoing projects, each connected to one of Unveil’s original stories — the Atar Water Project in Sudan, the work of Juma’s World in Tanzania, the She Has A Name Project at the Home of New Beginnings in Thailand, and the CAPCC Housing Project in Red Deer, Alberta

Each project is doing good in the world, helping to unveil the potential of people in areas of conflict or great need. $1.5 million (and counting!) has been committed to these projects.  Yowza!

Being robbed, vandalized and basically punched in the gut

Security Cam footage of burglar at The Space in Red Deer

It wasn’t all pretty, 2015.  We were blindsided by a terrible robbery at our studio in which not only our property was damaged, but we lost some expensive, beautiful gear.  The police have still not named a suspect and we haven’t recovered the 10s of thousands of dollars in stolen equipment.  It was a major set back.  But we’re still standing.  We’re grateful to have moved on from it! (And if you have any info about the robbery, help a brother out and call it in!)

Incredible Clients

We’re grateful for the clients that we work with – organizations and businesses who passionately share their stories of success.  This year we worked with a unique mix of international corporations, local business, post secondary institutions, visionary creatives, organic farmers, and inspiring non-profit organizations.

One year in The Space

Recording Studios and Film Production in Red Deer Alberta

October marked our one year milestone operating in The Space, a truly unique film and recording studio in downtown Red Deer.  It’s the home of Melodious Design Recording studio operated by the Wests and the home of Unveil’s post-production work.  A creative hub, the studio was a connecting point for artists of multiple disciplines, a launching pad for production on She Has A Name, and a place for infinite creative possibilities.

Shooting a feature film

She Has A Name - an Unveil Studios Film

Much of our year was geared toward the making of She Has A Name.  We’re pumped about this film and thrilled that we have now wrapped principal photography. In December we experienced a fantastic 16-day shoot in Thailand.  The adventure will continue in 2016 as we edit and distribute the film. The footage and performances are i.n.c.r.e.d.i.b.l.e. We can’t wait for you to see it!

(You probably already know about our Email List, Instagram and Facebook accounts where you can get an inside look at the project, but here are the links, just in case!)

Working with ultra-talented people from around the globe

You know who you are! We’re still pinching ourselves with the amazing people we’ve collaborated with in the making of this film.  The unbelievably talented cast, our exceptional crew (hailing from Canada, the USA and Thailand and other nations in between), our hard-working producing team and our visionary investors.  We’re fortunate to know and to have worked alongside the salt of the earth!

Faith + Family

Life is filled with challenges and so is creativity and business.  By the grace of God we had a year filled with events, projects and people that we are so thankful for.  At the top of the list are our families who so generously and graciously have stood by us as we’ve operated Unveil for another year, and who released and championed us on our latest dream-fulfilling 7+ week stint overseas.

At the end of a meaningful year we want to express our gratitude for the opportunity we have to tell stories that impact people and change the world.  With faith and expectation we look to 2016 with excitement!
