The film exposes the $150 billion global human trafficking industry that sells children, women and men as commodities. Two million people are currently being exploited in the commercial sex trade every year (UN). Less than 1% are ever rescued. She Has A Name aims to change these statistics.
The film is an adaptation of the critically acclaimed stage play by Andrew Kooman that had its World Premiere in Calgary, Alberta in 2011, selling out every show, then toured Canada in 2012. The film is directed by Matthew and Daniel Kooman. Donna Abraham and Shari Aspinall along with the Kooman brothers are producers.
The Unveil Studios’ film stars an international cast of actors including Will Yun Lee (The Wolverine, Hawaii Five-0), Eugenia Yuan (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Sword of Destiny; Memoirs of A Geisha) and Gil Bellows (The Shawshank Redemption, Ally McBeal).

The film pairs these well known actors with Vancouver-based actor Giovanni Mocibob, New York’s Teresa Ting and Singapore’s Vanessa Toh. These breakthrough actors are the heart and soul of the story and embody the harrowing human drama of trafficking.
The story of She Has a Name follows Jason, a lawyer, who poses as a john to build a legal case against a ruthless pimp trafficking girls into Thailand. He meets Number 18, a girl forced to work as a prostitute in a busy Bangkok bar, and discovers her testimony is key to proving his case.
To raise awareness of this issue, She Has A Name has partnered with global anti-trafficking agencies that work tirelessly every day to prevent trafficking, bring perpetrators to justice for their heinous crimes, and provide education and social services to trafficking victims so that they thrive upon rescue and rehabilitation.
Not only will audiences be thrilled by the story, She Has A Name will also spread the word about the prevalence of human sex trafficking. A portion of the film’s screening will go directly to frontline efforts to end trafficking throughout the world.
