When did your love for music begin and what was the first instrument you picked up?

Music, has always been kind to me. Some of my earliest memories are of my father, playing his guitar, and singing softly. His genre was always folk, and his playing, was often slow. Growing up he would play classical music over the speakers. And around the age of 12 or 13 (I can’t remember) I was inspired to pick up the violin. That was my first instrument. Which then evolved to piano, and after a couple years, guitar.

For listeners who are new to your sound, how do you describe your musical style?

Story driven, Singer Songwriter, Folk, and lately a lot of electronic influences as well.

How did your creative path connect with She Has A Name?

None other then the amazing Matthew Kooman. Who is (obviously) one of the directors on this film. We’re friends, and I suppose he just thought “Steal” and “In The Morning” would be good fits for the sound track. And of course, I was more than honoured to oblige.

When did you write “Steal” and how did the song come to life?

Oh geez, I don’t know. I wrote it forever ago. Well, I suppose closer to 8 years ago. However I never recorded it until just a couple of years ago. It has always been a favourite of mine. I remember writing it came vary natural. It was a prayer, to my Heavenly Father. To keep me close, as he always has

What was your inspiration for “In the Morning” and what does that song mean to you?

In The Morning, was more or less an experiment of electronic soundscapes. It’s driven by a looped acoustic guitar progression. Everything else was computerized.

What does it mean to me? It’s funny you’d ask that. although the song is terribly simple, It is quite precious to me. It speaks to my love of the morning. The early morning, before the sun is up. There’s something there, a strange calm. a solace,   If you will. And the lyrics are just memory’s. Images of the mountains. Creeks, and places I I like to go.

We’re excited to be offering handmade products from your Fieldwork line as part of our She Has A Name Fund Freedom Gift Pack.  Why did you start creating custom leather goods?

I don’t know why I dabble. I have more hobbies then I’d like to admit. I picked up leatherwork about 4 years ago. For fun mostly, — well no, To make things I wanted to use, but didn’t always want to spend the money on. It wasn’t until last Christmas, I decided to pursue Fieldwork diligently as more than a hobby, and I’m so glad I did.

Tell us about the custom tote and journal that you’re creating exclusively for the film and what you want the people who purchase these items to know about them.

Again, these are two products I use on the daily. I still have one of the original journals I made myself from over a year ago. And I just love the way they wear. The waxed canvas (that I wax by hand) complemented with the leather features, create products that age, and grow with you. I use only the best materials I can find. And critique the design many times over until I have a product I’m truly proud of.

Your quite the renaissance man.  What’s the source or inspiration for your creativity?

I apologize if I may come off cliche, or overly religious. I’m really not those things. But I would have to say the root of my creativity, and inspiration, come from my relationship with my Heavenly Father. When I lay down my head, and allow my mind to wonder. He brings to me sweet thoughts. And he has given me every tool I need to make any thing I want.
